The Slowmound Mugo Pine is a true dwarf pine, not just a slow-growing one. It grows to no more than 2 feet tall and wide in 10 years and never exceeds 3 feet across. It has many dense, compact stems forming a tight bun of foliage, and long-lived needles that keep it bushy and full. Perfect for smaller gardens and sunny rock gardens, growing on natural slopes or in more planned settings. It is also ideal for growing in a pot to show off its miniature charms on a garden table or in a window box.

  • A true dwarf variety, staying around 2 feet tall
  • Dense and compact, with handsome dark-green needles
  • A charming specimen for a small rock garden
  • wonderful in planters and pots too
  • Hardy to at least minus 40

For best results plant the Slowmound Mugo Pine in full sun. It is very cold-hardy even into the edges of zone 2. It grows in any well-drained soil, from sandy and rocky places to heavier garden soils and clays. In pots plant in soil blended for cacti and succulents. No trimming is needed – it stays compact naturally. Not usually eaten by deer or bothered by pests or diseases.
