Autumn Amethyst Encore® Azalea

The Autumn Amethyst™ Encore® Azalea is a gorgeous small bush, smothered in beautiful purple flowers, in spring and then again continuously from early summer to the first frost. It grows rapidly into a bush 4 feet tall and across, and may mature into an even larger plant, to 6 feet tall. It looks beautiful in so many parts of your garden, from wooded areas to beds around your home, as an edging, or as an informal hedge or border. Even when it is not in bloom it is beautiful, because in fall the green leaves turn rich tones of purple, and stay that way all winter, brightening the season and adding interest while you wait for the spectacle to begin again.

Grow the Autumn Amethyst Encore Azalea in acid soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5. If your neighbors are growing azaleas, camellias or blue hydrangeas, you can grow these plants right in your garden. If not, simply plant in a pot or planter, using soil for acid-loving plants, and a fertilizer for azaleas. They will grow beautifully this way, and bloom for years and years. These beautiful plants are much more vigorous and faster growing than older types, and they are more pest and disease resistant because of that.
