The Bright Edge Yucca forms a dense clump of upright evergreen leaves, each one boldly edged in a wide stripe of golden yellow. The bright coloring makes this plant the perfect choice to bring color to your garden, not just for a week or two, but all year round. Reaching a height of almost 3 feet, these narrow leaves thrust upwards and outwards, creating a vibrant look that really catches attention. In summer tall spikes of large, creamy-white flowers can reach over 5 feet, and they add a surprising beauty to such a rugged plant. For all those sunny spots, with dry and poor soil, this is the perfect choice, and once established it is completely drought resistant. Perfect for xeric gardens, plant it among gravel and rocks, or in containers and planters to decorate your terrace.
- Striking brightly-colored gold and green leaves
- Very hardy, growing even in zone 4
- Thrives in the hottest and driest places
- Perfect choice for both xeric and native-plant gardens
- Topped with tall spikes of white flowers in late summer
The Bright Edge Yucca should be planted in full sun, in any well-drained soil, and it grows well even in poor and sandy soils. It thrives in coastal areas, growing in almost pure sand and resisting salt-spray too. This is the hardiest of the yuccas, growing even in zone 4. It is normally free of pest and diseases and left alone by deer. Water regularly during the first growing season, but after that it is completely drought-proof, even in prolonged droughts and sandy soil. For low-maintenance gardening and striking beauty it simply cannot be beaten.
