Skeeter’s Broom Japanese Maple has a unique form, with multiple upright stems and a strong vertical line. It grows 6 feet tall or more, but stays only 3 feet wide, making it ideal for narrow spaces, or as a vertical accent plant. It has rich red spring foliage, purple-red summer leaves, brilliant bright red fall colors, and red winter twigs, making it truly a four-season colorful tree. It is ideal for beds or in semi-shaded woodland, or in planters and containers.

  • Unique upright form for narrow spaces or planters
  • Brilliant red spring foliage turns purple-red in summer
  • Powerful bright red fall colors
  • Vigorous and easily grown
  • Very cold hardy and durable

Derived from the popular, hardy and reliable Bloodgood, Skeeter’s Broom Japanese Maple is more cold hardy than most other varieties. It grows in full sun or partial shade too. It is vigorous and grows well in any moist, well-drained soil. Organic material blended into the soil, and used regularly as mulch, will help it really thrive and grow rapidly. It normally has no pests or diseases, and with a good location and some watering it is easy to grow.
