Regal Red Japanese Painted Fern

The Regal Red™ Painted Fern is the most striking of the colored ferns, with bright silver leaves decorated with a bold burgundy stripe. The stems grow to about 18 inches, forming a slowly-spreading clump up to 2 feet across. The overlapping leaves really show off their coloring, and are a great way to edge a path, fill spaces among rocks or by water, in woodlands, shady garden beds, on the north side of your home, and also in pots, outdoors or indoors. Very easy to grow, yet strikingly beautiful.

The Regal Red™ Painted Fern will grow in partial or full shade, in any ordinary soil, but grows best in richer, moist soils that are well-drained. It isn’t troubled by rabbits, deer, pests or diseases, and you hardly even need to trim away the dead fronds in fall – they just shrivel. Water regularly during dry weather, and you have this plant growing perfectly. Super-easy yet very exotic.
