Looking for easy-care perennials in stylish colors? You are on the right page – this is it. So very easy to grow, so colorful for so long, and so attractive in your garden, the Mango Tango Agastache will have you doing a tropical dance routine. It won’t be a gardening routine, though, because this plant is super low-maintenance, and needs no special or frequent care at all. Packed with colorful peachy blooms from July to the first frost, it thrives in hot, dry places as well as more regular garden beds. Grow it among other perennials, in a rock garden, on a sunny slope, in a container – in fact anywhere you need summer color. It is loved by butterflies, hummingbirds and bees too, so your garden will be filled with fabulous wildlife. The color comes not only from the flowers, which look like little open mouths, but from the cup (called a calyx) that they sit in, which stays after the flowers are gone, keeping up the color display. This is a compact plant, 12 to 18 inches tall and wide, so you can fit it into the front of a bed, or a pocket among rocks, easily. It’s great in a planter or pot, which if you forget to water will still survive, and an ideal choice for hot, dry areas with poor soil. So easy you will have lots of time left to go out dancing.

  • Compact variety 12 – 18 inch tall and wide
  • Fabulous, fashionable coloring of peach and mango
  • Flowers from July to the first hard frost
  • A magnet for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds
  • Grows easily and well even in hot, dry, low-water conditions

Grow the Mango Tango Agastache in full sun – it loves it. Plant it in any well-drained soil, including alkaline soils, limestone, rocky ground and dry, sandy earth. It grows all the way from zone 5 to zone 9, and enjoys lots of heat and sunshine. Once it has settled in it has no trouble with drought, and needs almost no attention – give it some water for the first few weeks and then throw away the hosepipe. Deer and rabbits hate it, and it doesn’t have any pests or diseases worth noting. Just cut back the stems in late fall to an inch tall, and you are set – new stems will push up next spring for another year of easy gardening.
