Upright evergreens bring a special look to a garden, but so often they become too large, meaning that ‘look’ cannot be reproduced in a small garden. Well, here is the answer – the Horstmann Atlas Cedar. This tree is a perfect miniature reproduction of the large and impressive Atlas cedar. Growing just 6 to 10 inches a year it has the exact pyramidal or conical form of the parent tree, with beautiful blue foliage, but in 10 years in your garden it will be just 6 feet tall, perhaps reaching 15 feet after 20 years. A beautiful small tree, and ideal for smaller gardens, town gardens and also for growing in a beautiful pot. The beautiful bright blue of the needles gives this tree lots of presence, even though it is small, and the perfect slender form makes a wonderful vertical accent or eye-catching feature.

  • The perfect miniature tree, with loads of character and presence
  • Neat pyramidal form, like a small Atlas cedar
  • Densely covered in bright silvery-blue needles
  • Grows between 6 and 10 inches a year
  • Ideal for small gardens, town gardens and pots

For the best growth, plant your Horstmann Atlas Cedar in full sun. It grows best in any well-drained soil, and although it will grow even in poor soils, you will get the best results growing it in a richer soil. This is a tree for areas that have either cool summers, or dry ones. It won’t grow so well in hot and humid summers, and isn’t suitable for the southeast. Deer won’t bother it, and it normally has no pests or diseases. Pruning or trimming isn’t needed, but for the perfect conical shape keep just one central leading shoot.
