The Green Mountain Boxwood is a premium boxwood selection that is ideal for creating medium-sized hedges and upright specimens. It is much more cold-resistant than ordinary American boxwood, so if you live in a colder area, this is the ideal plant for those decorative cones and pyramids that bring such a classic look to any garden. Because it is a hybrid it is a tough, reliable plant that will grow well in a wide range of conditions – both cold and hot. It thrives in almost all light levels, from full sun to full shade, and its rich-green and glossy foliage is attractive all year round. It is ideal fom making hedges up to 5 feet tall, or for trimmed specimens in a wide range of shapes. In a lower-maintenance garden it can be grown with little or no clipping, as a dense, billowing upright shrub for evergreen structure and permanence. Around your home, or in garden beds, it will give your garden that air of maturity and stability that creates a calming and attractive atmosphere.

  • Hardy boxwood variety for colder areas
  • Grows naturally into an upright, conical shape
  • The top choice for taller clipped cones and pyramids
  • Perfect for a medium-sized hedge
  • Evergreen and attractive all year round

The Green Mountain Boxwood will grow in almost any garden soil that is not constantly wet. This tough plant will grow well with minimal care, but it will thrive on a simple watering and fertilizing program. It can be left untrimmed and it will still be neat and compact, or with clipping it can be turned into a beautiful hedge or striking formal specimen for your garden. It is free of major pests or diseases, especially when clipped, and it is resistant to moderate drought once established, as well as to deer. Rather than settling for generic ‘boxwood’, choose a variety specially raised for hardiness and upright form.
