The Twister ColorGrass® Rush is a hardy perennial plant that is also grown as a houseplant. It forms a tangled mat of thin cylindrical leaves spreading up to 18 inches in all directions. These are bright green, and when young expand in perfect spirals just like a corkscrew. Older leaves become more open spirals. Outdoors it can be grown directly in water or in wet soil by a pond or stream. In warmer areas it is evergreen, but dies back in cold zones. Indoors grow it in a bright spot, and indoors it will be evergreen. A great plant to bring variety to your garden, and a terrific conversation piece. Clusters of tiny brown flowers are sometimes produced during summer.
Very easy to grow, the Twister ColorGrass® Rush is hardy to zone 4 but also grows all the way into zone 9. It needs wet soil, which can be of any type, from clays to acidic, peaty soils. In a pond it can be planted in a pot and places so it is a few inches below the water. Indoors, stand it in a saucer of water, flushing out the pot from time to time with clean water to prevent root rots. Deer, pests or diseases don’t bother it, and this unique plant is very easy to grow anywhere.
