Fairytale Bride Hydrangea

Get ready for a brand new type of hydrangea, like nothing you have ever seen before. Follow the trail laid by the garden fairies to meet the Fairytrail Bride® Cascade Hydrangea®. This entirely new type of hydrangea has smaller leaves and smaller flower heads, which are carried in such abundance from both terminal and side shoots that the whole bush will be a cascade of white. With a spreading, semi-cascading form, this is an entirely new look, and one you will love. Flowering begins as soon as the new growth starts, with blooms as early as April, continuing into June. In most areas you can expect a second blooming in September. The flower clusters are 5 inches across, with an outer circle of larger flowers, surrounding a center of fluffy small ones, rather like a miniature lace-cap hydrangea. Flower heads just keep coming and coming – you won’t believe it – and this variety doesn’t have the heavy, fat-head look of old-fashioned varieties. Growing to 3 or 4 feet tall and wide, it is perfect in the middle zone of a shrub bed, as a striking edging plant, or planted on a slope or in a large rock garden. Beautiful and different, unlike any hydrangea you have seen, and drop-dead gorgeous.

For the best blooms, plant the Fairytrail Bride® Cascade Hydrangea® with at least morning sun, and in colder zones it will enjoy full sun. The soil should be rich, moist and well-drained, and pH doesn’t matter – the flowers are always white. Add plenty of rich compost when planting, and use more as mulch. Deer don’t eat it and it doesn’t have any serious pest or disease issues. No pruning is needed or advised, just remove any dead stems in spring, cutting back to the first strong pair of buds, and no further. Never remove the terminal bud unless it is clearly dead.
