There is no question that Shasta daisies are beautiful, but oh my, it doesn’t take much for the traditional taller varieties to start flopping and falling all over the place. Now we have the answer – the Whoops-a-Daisy Shasta Daisy. Instead of tall stems we have a perfect dome of flowers, around 15 inches tall, and almost 2 feet across. Every inch is occupied by large, 3 to 4 inch flowers with many white petals surrounding a bright-yellow center. Starting in early summer this great plant is in bloom for weeks and weeks, bringing joy and beauty the way only white daisies can. After blooming a neat mound of lush green leaves is left to keep the space full, and this easy-care plant is a joy to grow. Use it along the front of a bed or path as edging, grow it among other perennial flowers, or use it in containers, where it looks simply fabulous.

  • A neat dome of large white daisies
  • Blooms all through the early weeks of summer
  • Compact and packed with flowers, needing no effort
  • Perfect in the garden or for pots and containers
  • A classic cottage garden flower transformed for every garden

Grow the Whoops-a-Daisy Shasta Daisy in full sun in cool zones, and with afternoon shade in hotter ones. Grow it in moist but well-drained soil that is rich, but avoid areas that are wet in winter. Water regularly, as needed. Apply a rich mulch over the root-zone in spring, and after blooming cut back the flower stems, but never cut the leaves that cover the plant for the rest of the year, unless they are yellow. This plant is usually free of any serious pest or disease problems, and it’s easy for anyone to grow.
