Becky Shasta Daisy

Floating on tall, 3-foot stems over lush green leaves, they have a ‘presence’ that is a glorious statement of the beauty of ‘less’. The large blooms are a circle of pure-white petals surrounding a bold yellow center – and that’s it. No more and no less. Glowing in your summer garden they speak of durability and simpler times, yet they have cutting-edge modern minimalism as well. Very easy to grow, before and after flowering they are a discreet mound of leathery green leaves. Plant the Becky Shasta Daisy in full sun, in ordinary well-drained soil. Use it in formal gardens behind boxwood hedges, or in the most casual cottage garden – it’s always right at home. Established plants are moderately drought tolerant, but always benefit from regular watering. Aim for lush spring growth to support a profusion of summer blooms. Rarely troubled by pests or diseases. Remove dead flowers low down, and remove dead leaves without cutting into the fleshy stems that lie on the ground.
