Gold Mop Cypress - Tree Form

The Golden Mop False Cypress is a well-known and colorful mounding evergreen with striking thread-like foliage in glowing deep yellow. We had our growers take small plants of this popular tree and put them onto short stems, creating a fabulous tree-form that is perfect for a striking accent in your garden. Use it to get height in a bed without adding width, or for a vertical punctation mark in your planting plan. It is also great for pots, where you can grow annuals or trailing perennials underneath it. Standing on a 2-foot trunk, it forms a pendulous mound of thin stems, arching and drooping to make a crown around 3 feet across, just a little broader than it is tall. The leaves lie flat against the stems, and are a striking deep golden-yellow, brightest where the sun strikes them directly. Always stays gold, all through winter and is cold-hardy too. A unique and striking plant you will love – and it’s so easy to grow.

Plant your Tree-form Golden Mop False Cypress in full sun or partial shade. The golden color will be strongest in full sun, but the plant itself is happy in partial shade. Grow it in any well-drained soil – it really isn’t fussy at all. Simply avoid wet places. Deer won’t touch it and it almost never has pest or disease problems. Very easy to grow and for the most attractive look allow it to grow naturally, with no trimming or pruning needed.
