Desperado® Texas Sage is a beautiful native American plant that is right at the top of every list for planting in the hottest and driest places. If you garden in hot, dry parts of the country, or have hot and dry areas in your garden, with poor, rocky and sandy soil, then this plant will succeed where almost nothing else will. Besides that, it is a very attractive bushy plant, about 4 feet tall and across, with one-inch leaves covered in a dense coating of silver-gray hairs. Whenever the weather turns damp and humid, beautiful lavender purple blooms appear from nowhere at the tops of every branch, making a lovely display at any time of year. If you cannot water, and your garden is often very dry, then this plant is for you.

  • Handsome silver-gray foliage on a mounding bush
  • Vibrant lavender-purple flowers at any time of year
  • Super-tough for the hottest and driest places
  • Compact plant that is always attractive
  • Perfect for xeric and wildflower gardening

Desperado® Texas Sage grows best in full sun, in any dry, well-drained soil. It will not grow in damp soil conditions or rainy areas. Plant it among rocks and stones, in any dry place. It has no pests or diseases, but the roots will rot if it receives too much water. It needs no care or special trimming but removing the tips of the branches in late winter or summer, before or after flowering, will keep it bushier and neater, without damaging its wildflower charm.
