Little Zebra Grass is truly a gift, because it has all the beauty of some very special large ornamental grasses, but it grows just 3 or 4 feet tall. This means it is perfect to bring the unique look of big grasses like the Porcupine Grass or Zebra Grass to your small garden. It has the special horizontal golden banding of those grasses, giving it a wonderfully bright yet elegant look. It makes perfect mass plantings in larger gardens, or as a specimen for smaller spaces anywhere. Plant it in beds, or by a stream or pond. Use it for bold garden designs, or as a specimen in a bed of gravel and boulders. It is also perfect for containers and planters, where you can place it on a balcony or terrace.

  • Smaller grass with fine texture and unique foliage
  • Green leaves are banded with golden rings
  • Grows just 3 or 4 feet tall – perfect for smaller spaces
  • Remains attractive all winter long
  • Ideal for planting in containers and pots

The Little Zebra Grass should be grown in full sun for the best color and structure. It grows well in any well-drained soil, and once established it is drought resistant. It grows even when exposed to salt-spray, and both deer and rabbits don’t eat it. Pests and diseases are very unlikely, and the only maintenance needed is an annual ‘haircut’ in early spring. For beauty and easy growing, it can’t be beaten.
