Zagreb Coreopsis, or thread-leaf coreopsis, is a wonderful garden plant producing a profusion of bright yellow blooms for months and months. This is an improved version of a native plant that grows wild in open, dry areas and pinewoods, so you can tell immediately it is drought resistant and durable. It forms a mat of intertwined stems on the ground, which send up many slender green stems between 1 and 2 feet tall, carrying thread-like green leaves. From spring all through much of the summer it is covered in star-shaped yellow blooms with golden centers. Grow it as an edging on flower beds, in rock gardens, slopes, and mixed with other xeric plants in wild gardens and low-water gardens. Perfect in pockets of soil among rocks and boulders. A fabulous splash of long-lasting color that needs almost no attention.

  • Weeks and weeks of golden daisy flowers
  • Soft, thread-like leaves give an airy look
  • Very drought tolerant for dry areas of your garden
  • A native plant for natural gardening
  • Untroubled by deer, rabbits or pests

Grow Zagreb Coreopsis in a bright, sunny place on any well-drained soil. This is one of the most drought-tolerant of the Coreopsis we carry, and ideal for poor soil and areas where you can’t easily water – or don’t want to. It doesn’t have problems with pests or diseases, and both deer and rabbits leave it alone. A light shearing as the first flush of flowers fades will encourage more, or just let it grow with its natural cycle. Trim to the ground in late fall for neatness. Water new plants for a while, and then no more is needed.
