We all love the great color of coneflowers, so imagine one which is pure, glowing light yellow – wow, what an asset in the garden. Well, now we have it, in the Sombrero® Lemon Yellow Coneflower. The clarity and light of its wonderful yellow has to be seen to be believed – not mustard, but pure lemon. A wonderful companion both for golds and oranges, but also for blues and purples, and even rose-tones – try and see. You can make carpets of yellow with mass planting, or highlights among your perennials, or create wonderful pots and planters – the choices are endless. A little less than 2 feet tall, these compact, bushy plants produce masses of blooms all summer long. A wonderful color-break in coneflowers that you will love – think about planting a bed of the different SOMBRERO® colors for your greatest summer show yet – and so easy to grow.

  • Beautiful pure lemon yellow flowers 3 to 4 inches across
  • Mid-sized plants of vigor and beauty
  • Grows well even in poor soils and urban gardens
  • Showy winter seed heads are loved by goldfinches and other birds
  • Perfect in formal settings and wild gardens

The Sombrero® Lemon Yellow Coneflower will grow and bloom best in full sun, and it loves the heat. Plant it in any well-drained soil, even urban soils and poor, unimproved soils in new developments. Water while it establishes – after that it will take drought and dryness without trouble. It isn’t normally bothered by pests, diseases or deer, and needs no staking or special care. Perfect for filling blank areas in your garden, on slopes or rough ground. Simply cut off the flower stems sometime between late fall and early spring – nothing more is needed, as the leaves disintegrate over winter.
