How are the heights measured?
All tree, and nothin' but the tree! We measure from the top of the soil to the top of the tree; the height of the container or the root system is never included in our measurements.
What is a gallon container?
Nursery containers come in a variety of different sizes, and old-school nursery slang has stuck. While the industry-standard terminology is to call the sizes "Gallon Containers", that doesn't exactly translate to the traditional liquid "gallon" size we think of. You'll find we carry young 1-gallons, up to more mature 7-gallons ranging anywhere from 6 inches to 6ft.
How does the delivery process work?
All of our orders ship via FedEx Ground! Once your order is placed online, our magic elves get right to work picking, staging, boxing and shipping your trees. Orders typically ship out within 2 business days. You will receive email notifications along the way on the progress of your order, as well as tracking information to track your plants all the way to their new home!
Why are some states excluded from shipping?
The short & sweet answer is: "United States Department of Agriculture Restrictions." Every state has their own unique USDA restrictions on which plants they allow to come into their state. While we wish we could serve everyone, it's for the safety of native species and helps prevent the spread of invasive disease & pests. We've gotta protect good ole' Mother Nature, after all.

It has glossy dark-green foliage and bronze-red new growth. The blooms are abundant and they are up to 4 inches across, fully-double and packed with fluted, wavy petals. Full sun is what the Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree wants to give its best. It grows well in most soils, favoring richer, heavier soils, including clays if they are not boggy. Use organic material when preparing the ground and as annual mulch. Fertilizer with a blended rose food, especially for plants growing in a tub. This rose has very good resistance to the usual rose diseases, so it doesn’t need regular spraying. Use Neem Oil Spray for occasional pests. Dead-head old blossoms to encourage more and prune annually in spring.

You don’t have to come from Texas to enjoy yellow roses – they are loved around the world. If you love them too you will adore the Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree. This wonderful new rose is probably the best yellow rose we have ever seen. It really does sparkle and shine with the purest tone possible – no golds or orange tones, just pure, pure, glowing yellow, from the tip of the petals all the way into the heart of the bloom. Not only is the color pure and clean, it doesn’t fade to cream in the sun, as so many yellow roses do. No, it holds that color through the life of the flower and it doesn’t scorch either – it’s perfect. The color is accented by being set against leaves that are deep, deep green and glossy, with striking dark-red new growth. Plus, this variety has high resistance to all the common rose diseases, it’s vigorous, growing into a large bush 4 feet tall and wide and it blooms continuously. Wait, we forget one more thing. Each bloom has a remarkable and unique fragrance, combining apple and licorice in a powerful scent that will amaze you.
Growing the Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree
Size and Appearance
The Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree is a beautiful large tree rose, with a short but sturdy trunk supporting a rounded crown that within a couple of seasons will grow to be 5 or 6 feet tall and at least 3 feet wide. The trunk holds a crown of many sturdy branches, and the dense foliage is extremely attractive. Each leaf is made up of 3, 5 or 7 individual leaflets, each one about 2 inches long, oval with a pointed tip,finely-toothed edges and a glossy surface. The color of new leaves is a warm, dark, orange-red, turning to a rich dark green, enhanced by the sheen of the surface. Because this rose had very good resistance to diseases, the leaves will stay attractive all season, without turning dusty or yellow, or dropping off in summer.
The flowers are carried singly or in bunches of 2 or 3, on short stems, and blooming is profuse and more or less continuous from early summer all the way into fall. Each bloom is between 3 and 4 inches across, with around 40 petals making a fully-double bloom. The petals are thick, satiny, and wavy, and they spiral around the center of the flower in a very attractive way, making a truly gorgeous bloom. The color from bud to petal drop is a pure, clean and perfect sparkling yellow, which doesn’t fade or burn in the hottest sun. A delicious and unique fragrance of apples and licorice pours from every bloom – surprising perhaps, but you will love it. Blooms last about 5 days from their first opening until the petals fall, and about the same time when cut for a vase inside.
Using the Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree in Your Garden
This beautiful tree rose is perfect to grow as a specimen in your beds or even out on a small lawn area. Tree roses bring height and color without taking up much room, and other plants can be grown beneath them. Plant a pair on either side of a doorway, or beside a gate. Place them at the corners of a patio or grow this beautiful rose in tubs or planter boxes.
Hardiness
The Sparkle & Shine Tree Rose is hardy from zone 6 to zone 9. Grown in a tub or box it will safely stand outdoors all winter in zones 7, 8 and 9.
Sun Exposure and Soil Conditions
Plant your Sparkle & Shine Tree rose in full sun to keep it healthy and blooming prolifically. It will grow in most well-drained soils, including heavy clays, which roses love. In sandy soils that are often dry, or in heavy, very wet soils, add plenty of rich compost or other similar organic materials, which are effective in making both kinds of soil ideal for your rose bush.
Maintenance and Pruning
Drive a strong stake into the ground beside your bush and tie it permanently, along the trunk and once or twice inside the crown. This will protect from breakage in storms. Use rose fertilizer in spring, and more frequently when growing in tubs. With good disease resistance you won’t need to spray regularly with nasty chemicals. Most pests can be easily controlled – if they even appear – with our Neem Oil Spray or natural soap sprays. These products are harmless to you, children, pets and the environment.
Remove spent flowers as soon as the petals fall, cutting back to just above the first full-sized leaf on the stem. In early spring prune your bush for the season. Remove any weak or damaged stems cleanly, leaving a framework of sturdy young branches. Shorten these back by half, cutting just above an outward facing bud. That’s all the work needed to grow magnificent roses in your own garden.
History and Origin of the Sparkle & Shine™ Rose Tree
The rose we know by its trademark name of Sparkle & Shine™ was created by Christian Bédard, the head rose-breeder at Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower, Inc. in Pomona, California. To create it he took pollen from a yellow rose called Julia Child™ (‘EKvossutono`), created by his predecessor at Weeks Roses, Tom Carruth. He used it to pollinate blooms of another of Tom’s creations, Julie Newmar™ (`WEKlezpat`), which is apricot-yellow. Among the seedlings was a gorgeous rose which was officially named ‘WEKjunjuc’ when it was patented in 2014.
