Now junipers are great work-horses around the garden, filling spaces and giving structure and they are easy to grow, but often not too exciting. But when we saw the Golden Glow Juniper Tree we just knew we had to have if for this special gift collection. Here was a juniper that was anything but ‘every day’. This was truly something special.

To begin with there was the color. Almost all junipers are shades of green, blue-green or silver-gray – but the Golden Glow was something else. On other varieties it fades to green during the summer, but this plant stays golden all year round.

The shoots of this plant spread outwards – it has a broad spreading habit and would look great as a ground-cover. We weren’t satisfied – we needed more. Then we remember how spreading junipers will hang down when they reach the edge of a wall and we thought that if it was lifted off the ground this plant would cascade down in a series of sun-splashed waves as a semi-weeping plant. Once we had our expert growers mount this plant on a short, sturdy trunk we saw what a success this was and how, now, we really had the killer combination.

Growing Golden Glow Juniper Trees
